“B. Sweet”.  It’s our own little play on our last initials and a cute way of describing a company that is built upon appealing to one’s insatiable desire for sweets. However, we like to think the name encompasses a bit more than that.  We are a cake boutique, and our primary focus is to bake and design cakes that exceed our clients’ expectations in taste and presentation.  In addition to that, we focus on building a business that in turn builds the local economy, improves the lives of the animals that produce our ingredients, and sustains our environment.  So B. Sweet Cake Boutique is the perfect name for our company because it expresses our hopes to always be sweet to our clients, to be especially sweet to the farms and businesses around us, to never forget to be sweet to the animals that we depend on daily, and to be as sweet as we possibly can to our planet.  All while using every bit of our ability to create the best sweets you’ll ever taste.

B. Sweet Cake Boutique started as a happy little accident. I, Kenya Brooks, owner and head caker, have always had an ability in and love for all things artistic. To explore that interest I studied fine arts at the University of Georgia and following graduation worked as an interior designer at a Georgia architecture firm. However, my days in interiors were cut short when the economy crashed and burned and I thought that my artistic future might take the same turn. Then one day my mother-in-law asked me to take a cake decorating class with her at a small bakery in north Georgia. I thought it might be a fun distraction from my current reality so I agreed. As the classes went on I discovered a new love. This was a field in which I could combine all of my interests. I was sculpting, painting, drawing, not to mention working with sweet materials. I began making cakes for birthdays and small occasions and before I knew it people were actually paying me to play with sugar. SUPER! Now most days I am up to my elbows in flour and sugar and am loving every minute of it. Sometimes life can really B. Sweet!
